BOONE COUNTY, WV (WOWK) — Former Scott High School Band Director Patrick Carte is under an ongoing “criminal investigation,” according to the West Virginia State Police.

The State Police is handling the investigation. The details of the investigation have not been released.

Boone County Superintendent Matthew Riggs said on Tuesday, “It would be inappropriate for the school system to make a statement related to an investigation by the WVSP. The school system, as with any law enforcement investigation, cooperates with all agencies involved and will make no specific statements that could jeopardize that process.”

On a list of personnel actions for the Boone County Board of Education to vote on at their meeting on Sept. 16, it said Carte was resigning from his position as a music teacher and band director at Madison Middle School and Scott High School effective Sept. 11.

Superintendent Riggs told 13 News on Sept. 17 that the board of education accepted Carte’s resignation at that meeting.
