UPDATE: (10:51 A.M. Wednesday, Sept. 25) – Police officers on scene tell WOWK 13 News that traffic going up onto the Patrick Street bridge is currently closed, and other traffic in the area is being diverted from the scene. Vehicles are able to cross the bridge from MacCorkle Avenue.

CHARLESTON, WV (WOWK) — A large water main break on Charleston’s West Side has flooded part of the Patrick Street Plaza, according to Kanawha County dispatchers.

This is at 4th Street and Patrick Street. Vehicles are unable to get through at this time, and West Virginia American Water says there is no word on when the road will reopen. They say they are working with the city on the details of fixing the road.

A spokesperson for West Virginia American Water says crews are on the scene repairing, and those repairs are estimated to take at least eight to 12 hours.

They say no customers are experiencing low pressure or no water in the area.
