UPDATE (4:45 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 25): Water issues in Putnam County are expected to be fixed by around 6 p.m. on Wednesday, according to West Virginia American Water.

PUTNAM COUNTY, WV (WOWK) — Several Putnam County schools closed early due to a water main break in the area, according to the West Virginia Department of Education.

These schools closed at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday:

The Putnam County Sheriff’s Office says the courthouse closed at 10 a.m. due to the water main break.

A spokesperson for West Virginia American Water says the water main break happened on Charleston Road on Tuesday evening. They say it has been repaired, but the break is still having an impact for customers in Putnam County.

There is no word on when everything will be restored. They say they will talk to those impacted directly when they have that figured out.
