BOONE COUNTY, WV (WOWK) – Scott High School Principal Amy Hale announced there will be a meeting for all parents and guardians of Scott High School and Madison Middle School marching band students at 5 p.m. on Wednesday in the Scott High School cafeteria.

This news comes one day after West Virginia State Police confirmed there is a “criminal investigation” into the former music teacher and band director Patrick Carte with Boone County Schools.

The State Police is handling the investigation. The details of the investigation have not been released.

Boone County Schools Superintendent Matthew Riggs told 13 News that the board of education accepted Carte’s resignation at their meeting on Sept. 16.

On a list of personnel action for the board to vote on at that meeting, it said Carte was resigning from his position as a music teacher and band director at Madison Middle School and Scott High School effective Sept. 11.

According to a social media post, the meeting is only for parents and guardians of marching band students and band members.
