First-ever Rio Renaissance Faire coming to Gallia County

RIO GRANDE, OH (WOWK) – The Village of Rio Grande in Gallia County will be taking a step back in time this weekend!

The first-ever Rio Renaissance Faire will take place Saturday, Sept. 28. The event runs from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Gatewood Trail System, which is located at 10 Bevo Francis Way in Rio Grande.

Admission to the Faire is $5 per person, with free entry for children 6 and under.

The Ren Faire is being organized by Final Boss Con, LLC , which was established in 2022 to bring a gaming convention to Southeast Ohio. That event takes place in the spring, and the dates for 2025 have already been set.

Organizers of Final Boss Con and the Rio Renaissance Faire say the events were created to bring a new variety of events to the community.

“Our goal, overall, is to bring events to Gallia County that our younger selves would have loved! As well as providing fun memories for our own children,” Final Boss Con, LLC organizers say.

The Faire will include a variety of vendors, food trucks, plays, special guests and activities for all ages.

Among the events, there will be a costume contest with adult and youth age divisions, as well as a beard contest for adults.

The special guests for the Faire will include Muggle with a Mic, Axe throwing with Styrbjorn, Kendra Ward and Bob Bence, Riverby Theater Guild, Tomato Torture, Bossard Memorial Library, Linda’s Puppets, Madog Center for Welsh Studies, and TKE Fraternity.
