Authorities recover vehicle from Kanawha River in Charleston

UPDATE: (5:43 P.M. Thursday, Sept. 26, 2024) – Authorities have pulled a work vehicle from the Kanawha River in Charleston and are now working to clear the scene.

The investigation is still ongoing and no further information has been released at this time.

UPDATE: (4:30 P.M. Thursday, Sept. 26, 2024) – Authorities are working to pull a vehicle from the Kanawha River in Charleston, and they say they believe there could be a body inside.

According to Boone County Sheriff Chad Barker, the investigation at the Frontier Boat Ramp off MacCorkle Avenue in Charleston is in reference to a missing persons case. However, he says at this point, the case is still under investigation and very little information can be released.

Barker says they have located a vehicle matching the description from the missing persons report, and they believe there may be a body inside the vehicle. The BCSO, CPD and CFD are working to recover the vehicle and the possible body from the river.

CHARLESTON, WV (WOWK) – Authorities from Charleston and Boone County are on scene at a boat ramp in Charleston.

According to Boone County Sheriff Chad Barker, his deputies, Charleston Police, and the Charleston Fire Department are working on an investigation that originated in Boone County.

The scene is currently at the Frontier Boat Ramp off MacCorkle Avenue in Charleston.

Barker says no further details can be released at this time. WOWK 13 News will update this article as soon as more information is available.
