NICHOLAS COUNTY, WV (WOWK) – Nicholas County is dropping its state of emergency for drought conditions and a call for residents to conserve water.

Nicholas County Commission President Garrett Cole says the reversal will go into effect on Friday, Sept. 27, as rain makes its way through the region.

The state of emergency was first declared on Sept. 16 due to the extreme drought conditions. At that time, Richwood Waterworks had only four days worth of water reserves left. The City of Richwood itself is under its own Emergency Water Conservation notice issued the week before.
