These West Virginia counties still need more poll workers

CHARLESTON, WV (WOWK) — 18 counties in West Virginia are asking for more poll workers ahead of the Nov. 5 General Election, according to Secretary of State Mac Warner’s Office.

“Statewide it takes over 8,000 total paid poll workers of all political parties to run an election,” said Secretary Warner. “Poll workers play a critical role in ensuring elections are run properly and securely and are the lifeblood of successful elections. They deserve the utmost respect and admiration for their services to our communities.”

The counties that have asked for more help include:

• Berkeley
• Boone
• Cabell
• Fayette
• Grant
• Hampshire
• Kanawha
• Marion
• Monroe
• Nicholas
• Ohio
• Pleasants
• Putnam
• Randolph
• Ritchie
• Summers
• Wayne
• Wetzel

Anyone interested in signing up to become a poll worker can do so by going to the GoVoteWV website by clicking here or contacting their county clerk. You can find a list of county clerks here .

West Virginians also still have time to register to vote. You have until Oct. 15 to register in person or online, and if you register by mail, it must be postmarked by Oct. 15.
