LAWRENCE COUNTY, OH (WOWK) – The 2024 General Election is just 28 days away, and early voting has started in the state of Ohio.

WOWK 13 News checked in with the Lawrence County Board of Elections in Ironton Tuesday morning, and voters have wasted no time in taking advantage of the opportunity to hit the polls bright and early. Folks out for early voting say it’s important to exercise the right to vote.

“I’m here because it’s my Constitutional duty. I love to vote. I vote every year, and I think everybody should. I don’t want my rights to vote to ever be taken away from me, so I cast my vote that way,” one early voter said.

Early voting hours vary by county, but generally, early voting is open during normal business hours with several weekend opportunities closer to election day.

Absentee voting by mail also kicked off Tuesday. Mailed-in ballots must be postmarked by Nov. 4.
