Hurricane hits Florida while frost can form in WV

(WOWK) — Hurricane Milton made landfall near Venice, Florida at approximately 8:30 p.m. Wednesday October 9, 2024 with estimated winds of 120 miles per hour within the storm 954 mb. The center of the storm crossed the shore with a Category 3 rating.

Meanwhile the WOWK-TV viewing area was so clear and cool that frost advisories were issued for the first time in the season by the National Weather Service.

Temperatures locally will drop into a range where frost can form in pockets in the pre-dawn hours.

More cold nights are likely in the coming days, and frost will once again be possible in the first half of next week.
