    Goodwill cuts ribbon on new store location in Elkview

    ELKVIEW, WV (WOWK)- The Crossings Mall Shopping Center in Elkview welcomed in a new addition Thursday morning, cutting the ribbon on a brand-new Goodwill store.

    The line for opening day was wrapped around the corner, and people were quick to rush through the doors to sift through the donated goods.

    13 News spoke with the Goodwill Industries of Summit Director of Marketing, Jamon Schmidt, who said the community support was outstanding.

    “It’s always awesome to see the community support. We had a line literally to our donation center to the side of the building. It’s always impressive to see the community come out,” said Dr. Schmidt.

    This location is different than older Goodwill stores because it can hold a much larger staff and features a MyCareer Advisor hub that helps people find local unemployment resources.

    “We wanted to offer more jobs, so there’s 40-plus people working here. But additionally, this is our second store that we have our MyCareer Advisor in, which is a program that we have here where people can find out more local services for employment. They can also sign up to register to vote, there’s a lot of mission services here as well,” said Schmidt.

    Goodwill will be open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays but closes at 7 p.m. on Sundays.
