SOUTH POINT, OH (WOWK) – Students at Burlington Elementary got the chance to make a sweet treat on Thursday.

The kids learned how to make apple butter right on the school’s front lawn! Hatcher’s Greenhouse and Lynd’s Sunrise Farm helped put the event together. They set up super early so the students could watch the magic happen from the beginning.

The students also had a big hand in making the final product, and in the taste test to make sure it was just perfect.

“We started the fire, then we put the cauldron on the flame, and then we, like, put all the ingredients. And then by the time all the classes come out here, they put, like, red candies in it to make it look reddish and, like, every kid gets to stir if they want,” said Sam Payne, 5th grader.

The jars of apple butter they made Thursday are for sale for the community.
