Three injured in Jefferson plane crash

KANAWHA COUNTY, WV (WOWK) — Three people were reportedly injured in a plane crash on a private runway along Mallory Airport Road in Jefferson Saturday afternoon.

According to the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office, the plane was occupied by one pilot and two passengers, a father and son.

Officials said the pilot told them the wind shifted when they were trying to land forcing the plane to travel too fast going onto the runway. The plane went off the runway and crashed into the hillside.

The pilot was sent to the hospital to get checked out, but the Sheriff’s Office said he’s expected to be recover. The father and son sustained minor injuries and were not transported.

Kanawha County Sheriff’s Deputies are still on scene investigating the situation.
