Teays Valley Fire Department announces change in coverage

PUTNAM COUNTY, WV (WOWK) — The Teays Valley Fire Department announced that several properties are no longer covered by their station.

In a statement posted on Friday, the department said this is due to “annexation by the City of Hurricane and associated changes to the fire districts approved by the West Virginia State Fire Commission.”

The post also said that “despite their proximity, responses to these areas will now be handled by hurricane fire & rescue and will fall under its response area.”

Areas affected by this include key roads, schools, businesses and residences.

The department stated that any concerns about the change should be directed to a local county or state representative to discuss its impact.
