    Clothing requested after Barboursville fire destroys two homes

    Editor’s Note – This story has been updated to reflect that two people were inside the second home destroyed in the fire, but made it out safely.

    UPDATE: (10:38 P.M. Monday, Oct. 14, 2024) – Two drop off locations are being opened for people to donate to the two families affected by the house fires in Barboursville.

    According to a post on the Barboursville Yard Sale Facebook page, All Seasons Powersports in Barboursville and Midland Cycle in Ona are volunteering as drop off spots for donations.

    Requested items include:

    • Female adult 1x female shirts, 16 women’s pants, 8 1/2 shoes
    • Male adult 4x top, 52×30 bottoms, 13 shoes
    • Male adult xl shirts, 36×32 jeans, 11 shoes
    • Female adult women’s, large or 14 bottoms, 7 shoes
    • Male child 4t tops and bottoms, size 10 kids shoes
    • Female teen small tops, 3-5 bottoms, size 6 shoes

    Needed items for the second family are still being determined.


    UPDATE: (2 P.M. Monday, Oct. 14, 2024) – Two homes in Barboursville have been completely destroyed in a fire.

    Fire crews say a third house has exterior damage from the heat and smoke of the blaze, but did not catch fire.

    A homeowner of the middle house told WOWK 13 News they believe the fire may have started at the front porch of that house. Two adults and two children were inside and were able to make it out safely, however, a dog died in the fire.

    Two people were home in the second house that was destroyed, and while both got out safely, two cats died in the fire.

    The flames are now out, but the scene is still smoking.


    BARBOURSVILLE, WV (WOWK) – Multiple crews are on the scene of a fire impacting three homes in Barboursville.

    According to Cabell County 911 dispatchers, the call came in just after 11:30 a.m. Monday regarding three houses on fire in the 600 block of Huddleston Ave. in Barboursville. Dispatchers say that area of Huddleston Avenue is currently closed.

    There have not been any reports of injuries at this time, according to dispatchers.

    The Barboursville, Green Valley, Ohio River Road, Ona and Milton fire departments are responding.

    This is a developing story and WOWK 13 News has a crew heading to the scene. We will update this article as more information becomes available.
