Pike County man charged with murder in mother’s death: Kentucky State Police

PIKE COUNTY, KY (WOWK) — A Pikeville man was arrested and charged with murder on Monday in connection to his mother’s death, according to the Kentucky State Police.

The KSP said Alex Yuhas, 59, of Pikeville, and his mother, Paulette Mullins, 75, of Pikeville, got into a fight. This was when Mullins suffered a fatal gunshot, according to the KSP. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

When troopers arrived on the scene on Monday, they said they were met with a man, later identified as Yuhas, making threats towards law enforcement. After “several hours of negotiating,” Yuhas was taken into custody.

He is in the Pike County Detention Center and is facing charges of murder-domestic violence, terroristic threatening, and third-degree assault, the Kentucky State Police said.
