Snow, rain exit followed by dry days in WV, KY & OH

(WOWK) — As predicted, snow showers did reach the highest elevations of West Virginia on Monday. The ground at Snowshoe Ski Resort in Pocahontas County, WV had snow covering the grass at the top of the mountain by mid day Monday (October15, 2024).

More snow is expected in the high terrain of West Virginia overnight through early Tuesday.

A series of very cold nights could damage plants including Tuesday night with all counties in the WOWK-TV viewing area included in frost advisories or freeze warnings. The counties that are not filled in across north-central West Virginia have already experienced killing frost or a hard freeze, so advisories are not needed there.

This cold snap and snow activity is much earlier than the average snowfall for even the high mountains of WV.

There is no precipitation expected for a week after Wednesday.

As for outdoor activities, there is a Marshall football game Thursday night against Georgia State. Fans can expect cool but dry conditions.
