Mason County Almost Heaven swing missing

MASON COUNTY, WV (WOWK) — Members of a Mason County community are up in arms after the swing at Tu-Endie-Wei State Park went missing.

Staff says that they first noticed it was gone on Wednesday. They tell us that when they received the swing, they immediately saw an increase in visitors who wanted to come and have their pictures taken.

The swings are placed at popular tourist destinations across the state by the Department of Tourism to show off the Mountain State’s beautiful scenery.

One Point Pleasant woman, who has worked at the park for years, says she has a special connection to the landmark.

“It just gives you joy. You see them running toward the point where the swing is located. Some people like to actually swing in the swing but most people like to have their picture taken. And like I said my grandson got married by the swing. I didn’t know it until the next couple of days,” said Cathy Frush.

Frush tells us that the park’s warehouse has had three break-ins over the past few weeks and that they suspect those incidents could be related.

At this point, 13 News has not been made aware of any police reports that have been filed with law enforcement for the missing swing.  The Department of Tourism tells us a new swing is on the way.
