CHARLESTON, WV (WOWK) – Patriots Guardens , a local organization dedicated to giving veterans a green thumb, has expanded to downtown Charleston.

The organization hosted a ribbon-cutting Thursday to unveil its new Base Innovations facility on Smith Street. This is where military members and veterans can go to grow and hatch ideas and connect with each other.

“We’ll do workforce development trainings here, so you may see pictures around of our heavy equipment operating course in partnership with the Jobs in West Virginia Program,” said Cynthia L. Bailey, director of Economic Development. “So we are excited to bring resources to our veterans families.”

Patriot Guardens also offers classes for gardening, sustainable farming and other agricultural hobbies and life skills.
