    One person dead in Wayne County fire

    UPDATE: (3:50 P.M. Oct. 28) – The West Virginia State Fire Marshal’s Office says the victim of a fire in Wayne County Monday morning is a 65-year-old male.

    His name has not been released at this point.


    WAYNE COUNTY, WV (WOWK) – One person has died in a fire in Wayne County.

    According to Wayne County 911 dispatchers, the fire was called in around 8:15 a.m. Monday morning. Crews responded to the home in the 2100 block of Mill Creek Road.

    The cause of the fire has not yet been determined and the West Virginia State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating.

    At this time, officials have not released the name of the person who died.

    The Fort Gay, Prichard, and Louisa volunteer fire departments, Prichard EMS, and West Virginia State Police responded to the scene.
