SOUTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. (WPRI) — After leaving the University of Rhode Island’s basketball program last season, Providence native Sebastian Thomas is back in town for the 2024-25 season.

Thomas announced his homecoming on X Saturday afternoon with two simple words: “I’m back.”

Thomas committed to URI Men’s Basketball under the leadership of Head Coach David Cox in June of 2021.

During his sophomore season, under Head Coach Archie Miller, Thomas earned his way to the top, starting the first six and last seven games for the Rams.

But Thomas announced on X last April that he was leaving his home state and heading to the University of Albany for his junior season.

The 6-1 guard found success in New York starting all 32 games and averaging nearly 20 points per game. He also earned All-America East Second Team honors.
