(WPRI) — A few communities in Bristol County, Massachusetts, are lagging behind the rest when it comes to graduation rates.

According to state data, the graduation rate in Massachusetts was 89.2% last year.

The newly released report reveals English learners had a big decline throughout Massachusetts.

The dropout rate also increased slightly statewide with nearly 1% of students considered non-grad completers, meaning they completed local requirements but not all state requirements to graduate. That includes the state MCAS exams, which were paused during the pandemic.

Some numbers in Bristol County include an average high school graduation rate of 90.8% in Attleboro, 74.5% in Fall River, 78.6% in New Bedford, 95.7% in Seekonk and 89.7% in Taunton.

The report also shows that alternative schools have the lowest four-year graduation rates, but had a significant increase last year.
