Bicyclist injured in Providence hit-and-run

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — Police are searching for the driver who fled after crashing into a bicyclist late Sunday night in Providence.

Police say the victim was riding down Cranston Street around 11:45 p.m. when he was struck. He suffered an injury to his eye and a punctured lung, police added.

A 12 News crew at the scene saw the damaged bike on the ground, and a section of the street was taped off as police began their investigation.

Police later told 12 News the suspect vehicle appeared to be a gray, older-model station wagon. Investigators are now going through the neighborhood looking for surveillance video.
