DEM: Scarborough South weekday closures to start on Monday

NARRAGANSETT, R.I. (WPRI) — Starting Monday, Aug. 19, Scarborough South State Beach will begin limiting its facilities as the end of the summer season approaches.

Restrooms and showers will close for the season and be replaced with portable restroom units, according to the Department of Environmental Management (DEM).

Additionally, the parking lot for Scarborough South will close on weekdays. It will remain open for beachgoers on the weekends for the rest of the summer beach season.

The swimming area will also be limited to Scarborough North’s lifeguard area. Concessions will remain open at Scarborough South on weekends.

All facilities at Scarborough North and all other surf state beaches will remain open through Labor Day.

All state beach facilities will close for the season on Tuesday, Sept. 3.
