LINCOLN, R.I. (WPRI) — A North Smithfield man was arrested on charges of driving under the influence and carrying a firearm while impaired on Saturday, according to Lincoln police.

Officers saw 38-year-old Robert Pinardi around 10:30 p.m. stopped in the middle of Summer Street next to a local bar. Pinardi then performed a burnout, spinning the wheels of his vehicle.

Police attempted to stop the truck, however, Pinardi allegedly drove into the parking lot and unsuccessfully tried to back into a parking space.

Pinardi failed sobriety tests and tried to reenter his vehicle, refusing to listen to commands to stay away from the truck, police said.

Officers then found a loaded semiautomatic handgun inside the vehicle with eight rounds, including one in the chamber.
