BOSTON (WPRI) — Massachusetts has been ranked the best place to live in America in 2024, according to a new study.

WalletHub released its “Best States to Live In” list on Monday, comparing all 50 states across five key dimensions — affordability, economy, education and health, quality of life, and safety. Here’s how Massachusetts ranked:

• Affordability: 44
• Economy: 15
• Health & Education: 1
• Quality of Life: 6
• Safety: 7

“Massachusetts’ greatest strength is our people,” Gov. Maura Healey said. “We are home to the best schools, the best health care, and the most innovative businesses — but this isn’t the time to rest on our laurels.”

“Our administration is dedicated to building on this momentum by continuing to invest in our communities, make Massachusetts more affordable and ensure that we remain the best place to live for future generations,” she continued.

Florida, New Jersey, Utah and New Hampshire rounded out the top five. Rhode Island was ranked 28th.

Louisiana was ranked the worst state to live in.
