PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — More than 650,000 Trader Joe’s candles are being recalled because the flame can spread from the wick to the wax and create a larger than expected flame, according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).

The Mango Tangerine Scented Candles were sold exclusively at Trader Joe’s stores nationwide for about $4.

Trader Joe’s has received 14 reports of high flames, including three resulting in property damage and two resulting in minor burns.

The 5.7-ounce candles, which were sold in a tin container, have white-colored wax and a cotton wick.

Those who bought one of the recalled candles are urged not to use it and to instead return it to Trader Joe’s for a full refund. Anyone with questions can contact Trader Joe’s by filling out a product feedback form online or by calling (626) 599-3817.
