    Connecticut Sun beat LA in first-ever WNBA game at TD Garden

    BOSTON (WPRI) — History was made at TD Garden on Tuesday night as the arena hosted its first-ever WNBA game between the Connecticut Sun and the Los Angeles Sparks.

    The historic matchup drew a franchise-record sellout crowd of 19,125 fans. It was also the third-highest attendance for any WNBA game this season.

    Celtics stars Jayson Tatum and Jru Holiday were also in attendance showing their support.

    With less than four minutes remaining, the Sun were down but responded with a 14-0 run to escape with a memorable 69-61 win.

    Connecticut improved to a 20-7 record and L.A. have the league-worst with 6-22.

    Up next the Sun will host Angel Reese and the Chicago Sky at Mohegan Sun Arena on Friday. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m.
