WARWICK, R.I. (WPRI) — An investigation is underway after a 52-year-old man was found dead inside a Warwick home Wednesday.

Officers were called to the Spofford Avenue home for a well-being check on the man, who was believed to be armed.

Police said the man, who has not been identified, was wanted in connection with a “domestic situation,” which possibly involved him violating a no-contact order.

The man wasn’t there when officers first pulled up to the home, according to police. Officers searched for the man a couple of hours before learning he had returned to the house after abandoning his car at a nearby Walmart.

Neighbors were evacuated out of an abundance of caution as officers prepared to enter the home. Police said the officers discovered the man’s body once inside.

The circumstances surrounding the man’s death are unknown at this time.
