WAREHAM, Mass. (WPRI) — A New Bedford man is accused of shooting at police at a Wareham hotel on Friday night.

According to Wareham police, calls came in around 8 p.m. for reported gunfire at a bog behind the Marriott TownePlace Suites.

When officers went to speak with the alleged suspect, later identified as Scott Desimas, of New Bedford, Desimas fired several shots at them through his motel room.

Two of the shots went through a wall and landed into the motel’s pool. A third round was found inside of the door frame of the room.

There were people in the pool at the time, but nobody was hit.

Desimas came out of the room shortly after and was arrested without any further incident.

A woman and two young children were found inside of the room. They were taken away safely from the scene.

Officers also found a rifle and handgun in the room.

Desimas is facing several charges including four counts of assault to murder (firearm-armed), one count of discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a building, two counts of reckless endangerment of a child, three counts of assault with a dangerous weapon and two counts of firearm without firearm identification card.

He is being held on $250,000 bail and is expected to be arraigned in Wareham 4th District Court on Monday.
