WARWICK, R.I. (WPRI) — A 27-year-old man arrested by Warwick police on Saturday evening is accused of lighting off fireworks outside of Apple Cinemas, which caused an evacuation.

Officers were called to the theater on Bald Hill Road around 7:52 p.m. after reports of gunshots being heard inside.

Police said there weren’t any signs of gunfire and a search outside the building led to officers finding fireworks that were set off.

According to police, officers found the suspect, Justin Crespo, during their investigation and he admitted to lighting aerial-type fireworks.

Crespo has been charged with possession of display and aerial consumer fireworks.

Nobody sustained any injuries and those in the theater were able to go back in afterward.
