CRANSTON, R.I. (WPRI) — After decades of thrills and chills, The Haunted Labyrinth in Cranston announced Sunday it will not be returning to celebrate what would have been its 40th season.

The Haunted Labyrinth, a nonprofit organization run entirely by adult and youth volunteers, has been a beloved staple for spooky season enthusiasts. However, the organization informed the community via social media that it will be closing its doors this year.

According to its website , The Haunted Labyrinth began in 1985, started by a group of teenagers inside the gym of a local church. Their goal was to encourage leadership and ministry while providing a scary yet fun attraction for the public. It eventually found its permanent home at the Rejoice in Hope Youth Center off Dyer Avenue.

Over the years, the humble haunted house evolved into Rhode Island’s longest-running haunted attraction, introducing new themes, costumes and props each season.

“None of this would have been possible without the incredible support and love we have received from you—our amazing fans and volunteers,” The Haunted Labyrinth Team said in their farewell post. “Our mission has always been more than just scares. It has been an honor to raise funds year after year to support the many programs at the Rejoice in Hope Youth Center, providing a safe and fun environment for the youth of the Diocese of Providence to deepen their faith, make lifelong friends, and be part of something so very special. Thank you for your unwavering love, patronage, and support over the past 39 years.”

“Our journey together has been filled with unforgettable moments, and we are grateful for each one. While we won’t be opening our doors this year, the spirit of The Haunted Labyrinth lives on. Even though we won’t gather this season, the story doesn’t end here. Remember, the legacy lives on in the hearts of those who have been a part of this journey. Stay Scary,” the team concluded in the post.
