PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — The Rhode Island Senior Games have made a comeback, being held for the first time since the COVID pandemic.

The goal of the event is to promote health and wellbeing for local adults over 50.

Athletes competed in sports including pickleball, golf, track and field, table tennis, basketball, and bowling.

We spoke with one of the organizers, who says people of all skill-levels can take part.

David Belhumeur – Rhode Island Senior Games organizer

“We have people that are just beginning, we have people that are seasoned they all get along they all have fun,” said David Belhumeur, with the Rhode Island Senior Games.

“Sometimes I feel like people may be a little intimidated about picking up a new sport whether it’s running, jumping, or throwing. Don’t be intimidated, it’s fun remember what it was in high school, or maybe even college get back out there and try it again.”
