EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — Does it seem like you’re hearing more about EEE and West Nile virus this year?

Both have been detected in humans in Rhode Island and Massachusetts and those mosquitoes will stick around until there’s a hard frost.

Dr. Leonard Mermel, Medical Director of the Department of Epidemiology and Infection Control at Lifespan, joined 12 News at 4 to talk about the risks.
