North Kingstown police: Scam callers posing as officers

NORTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. (WPRI) — Have you recently received a phone call from someone claiming to be a police officer asking for money?

The North Kingstown Police Department warns that scammers are impersonating officers to defraud residents.

Police emphasized that they will never call to request payments and urged residents not to give out any personal or financial information over the phone.

If you receive such a call, hang up immediately and call police at (401) 294-3316.
