PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — The Providence Emergency Management Agency (PEMA) will conduct its annual Port Evacuation Drill on Tuesday, Sept. 24, which includes testing its emergency siren system at noon.

The city said no action is needed if the siren is heard during the test.

The siren will be followed by a message stating: “This is a test of the emergency management public warning system. This is only a test.”

A city spokesperson said the drills are being conducted to ensure the sirens and system control panels are functioning properly.

I lived in nyc all my life and these tests were always done….the only time we didn’t hear it was on September 11 2021…..when our country was under terrorist attack
