Man dies after being hit by car in Cumberland

CUMBERLAND, R.I. (WPRI) — The pedestrian who was struck by a car in Cumberland on Tuesday has died from his injuries, according to police.

Police say 24-year-old Joseph Arribas was in a crosswalk on Highland Corporate Drive around 2:45 p.m. when he was hit by a car coming from Mendon Road.

Arribas was taken to the hospital in critical condition and died overnight.

The driver remained at the scene and was cooperating with police.

The crash remains under investigation.
