CRANSTON, R.I. (WPRI) — A Cranston High School East student was arrested Tuesday evening for allegedly posting a threatening message on Snapchat, according to police.

Cranston police said they, along with the FBI and Cranston East Principal Thomas Barbieri, identified the student responsible within four hours, taking all necessary safety precautions in the process.

Police said the student was charged with disorderly conduct and will appear in Family Court.

According to police, the student did not have the means to carry out the threat, which was deemed not credible.

“This should be a strong message to anyone who thinks they can hide behind the internet or any social platform and make a threat to any institution public or private, because we will identify you and hold you responsible,” Major Todd Patalano said in a statement.

Police said there is no further threat at this time.

Good. Kids thinking it’s a joke trying to finesse a day off at school need to be held accountable. Way too big in high school to acting like such an idiot.
