NARRAGANSETT, R.I. (WPRI) — An investigation is underway after a man’s body was recovered on Thursday at Scarborough South State Beach.

The man was identified as 63-year-old William Dickey of South Kingstown, according to the R.I. Department of Environmental Management (DEM).

The DEM said it got a call from a family member who reported that Dickey went out for a swim Wednesday afternoon and never returned.

The DEM and Narragansett police are now investigating.
