Tub safety bars recalled due to fall hazard

(WPRI) — Multi-Grip Tub Safety Bars sold at Home Depot, Lowes, Walmart and other major retailers are being recalled because they may cause people to fall.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) said the safety bar’s plastic sticker grip pads can become dislodged if they are attached to a tub with a tapered side, causing the safety bars to become unstable.

About 174,5000 units of the product are being recalled. There have been 14 reports of the safety bars becoming dislodged after being installed, with one report of someone falling and sustaining minor injuries.

The CPSC said anyone who has the bars should stop using them immediately and contact Liberty Hardware. Consumers can get a pre-paid label and free packaging to return the safety bars for a full refund.

You can contact Liberty Hardware at 844-811-4541 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays or email recall@libertyhardware.com .
