WEST WARWICK, R.I. (WPRI) — A Title IX investigation has been launched against the head cheerleading coach at West Warwick High School, 12 News has learned.

Superintendent Karen Tarasevich confirmed that the head cheerleading coach was placed on administrative leave on Friday after the district received an anonymous complaint regarding alleged misconduct.

“We understand the seriousness of this situation and are committed to ensuring a fair and comprehensive investigation,” Tarasevich said in a statement to 12 News.

The district is not releasing any additional information until the investigation is concluded.
