    URI, Brown to play 42nd Governor’s Cup on Saturday

    KINGSTON, R.I. (WPRI) — An intrastate football rivalry will be renewed for the 42nd time this coming weekend.

    The University of Rhode Island and Brown University will play in the annual Governor’s Cup at 1 p.m. Saturday at Meade Stadium in Kingston.

    Even though Brown leads the overall series 73-32-2, URI has more Governor’s Cup victories (22-19) since it started back in 1981.

    LAST YEAR: URI wins fifth straight Governor’s Cup over Brown

    At 12 p.m. Wednesday, Gov. Dan McKee will hold a kickoff event with the teams’ coaches and captains.
