WESTPORT, Mass. (WPRI) — Donations are piling up at Hassenegk Acres in Westport, hundreds of miles away from where Hurricane Milton made landfall Wednesday night.

Vanessa Small, who owns the farm with her husband, told 12 News her family knew they had to do what they could to help those affected by the storm’s devastation.

Small requested the following essentials be dropped off at Hassenegk Acres:

    • Water
    • Tarps
    • Non-perishable food
    • Trash bags
    • Cleaning Supplies
    • Toiletries
    • Wipes
    • Gas cans
    • Pet food
    • Tools
    • Diapers, formula and bottles
    • Clothing
    • Blankets

The first round of supplies is being driven down south in a truck by Kyle Vieira, who runs Southwest Florida Excavation. He plans on not only delivering the goods, but also assisting with cleanup efforts in the weeks following the storm.

This isn’t the first time he’s done so, either.

Vieira was just in Florida assisting those impacted by Hurricane Helene.

“You’ve got houses that took on five to 10 feet of water,” Vieira said. “Seeing photos albums and pictures of families just out there in the trash makes you want to cry. It brings tears to your eyes.”

Haasenegk Acres plans on making at least one more supply run down to Florida in the next couple of weeks. Those interested in donating can contact Small by calling or texting (774) 264-4462.
