LITTLE COMPTON, R.I. (WPRI) — A beloved brunch spot in Little Compton will soon change hands.

The Madden and Wordell families announced Monday their decision to sell The Barn Restaurant.

“After thinking long and hard, we have decided selling is in the best interest of our families,” the owners wrote in a social media post . “We all knew this day would eventually come, but that hasn’t made it any easier.”

The Maddens and Wordells purchased Main Street eatery back in 2008. The Barn, which first opened in 1987, is known for its homestyle breakfast served seven days a week.

“We are not completely clear on what the new owners have in store, but they are well aware of the following we have,” the owners continued. “We wish them well and hope you continue to patronize them in the future.”

The families plan to hand the reins over to the new owners before the end of the year.
