    Man pleads guilty to deadly drive-by shooting in Pawtucket

    PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — A Providence man faces sentencing for the murder of a Pawtucket man in a drive-by shooting three years ago.

    Jahcolin Rodrigues, 23, pleaded guilty to first-degree murder and discharging a firearm from a motor vehicle, according to the Rhode Island Attorney General’s Office.

    The victim, 20-year-old Leonardo Tavares, was found suffering from gunshot wounds inside a vehicle on Randall Street on May 15, 2021. He was pronounced dead at the hospital.

    BACKGROUND : One person dead in Pawtucket shooting

    Prosecutors said Rodrigues fired multiple rounds into Tavares’ SUV after spotting him driving through the city. Police believe the two men were involved in a gang feud.

    Rodrigues was arrested about three weeks after the shooting .

    He’s currently being held without bail at the ACI, with his sentencing set for Sept. 9.
