    4 hurt in head-on crash that shut down part of McKnight Road in Ross Township for hours

    Several people were hurt in a crash on a busy road in the North Hills on Sunday morning.

    The head-on crash happened on McKnight Road near the intersection with Nelson Run Road in Ross Township around 5:30 a.m.

    The Ross Township Police Department says two vehicles were involved and two people were in each vehicles.

    A firefighter on scene told Channel 11 that all four people were hurt, but only three of them were taken to area hospitals. Ross Township Police Department says the male driver of one vehicle only sustained minor abrasions. The male passenger in the same vehicle was in critical condition but has since but upgraded to stable condition. The man and woman in the other vehicle were taken to a hospital for moderate injuries.

    By 11 a.m. southbound McKnight Road had reopened. Northbound McKnight Road reopened by noon.

    A Pittsburgh Regional Transit bus was forced to detour its inbound McKnight Road stops while the road was closed.
