Bicyclist dies after Route 8 crash

A bicyclist has died after a crash on Route 8 Thursday morning.

The crash happened on Route 8 near Butler Plank Road at around 4:50 a.m.

Our crew at the scene saw a bike on the sidewalk with its front wheel bent. There was also a pickup truck at the scene.

The bicyclist, Danny Ramage, was taken to a hospital where he later died.

Allegheny County police said preliminary information shows the man was crossing Route 8 when he was hit.

Route 8 was shut down for around three hours.
