A 17-year-old is facing charges in a McKeesport shooting where a man was killed.

Allegheny County 911 dispatchers said first responders were called to the 500 block of Lysle Street at 10:53 a.m. on Monday.

Allegheny County police said first responders found a man shot in the roadway. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Allegheny County Medical Examiner identified him as Dylan Christopher Saula, 22, of North Versailles.

Police say Daemond Artemus, 17, of McKeesport, was detained shortly after the shooting and is now charged with homicide and firearm violations.

In a criminal complaint, a witness alleges Daemond got into Saula’s vehicle with the intent to buy drugs from him, then shot him and later dumped his body in the street. The witness said he didn’t hear a confrontation between Daemond and Saula before the shooting.

Daemond is being held at the Allegheny County Jail while awaiting arraignment.

Everyday I patrol my neighborhood. I help the elderly. I clean up dirty areas. I talk with and counsel addicts. I work with at risk youth. Every day I am out here advocating for more street lights, less blight and resources. And as soon as something happens, every racist in the area comes out and shows their ignorance. Disrespectful comments with no regards for the feelings of the family of the deceased. MH. Racism is biggest undiagnosed MH issue in America. Can we have some decency? Condolences to the family and let's attempt to gather counseling for the students as they prepare to go back to school tomorrow after this tragedy.
