Washington County police said that around 10:50 p.m., their department was called to a stabbing in the 1200 block of Summerlea Avenue.

As officers were responding, one of their officers was involved in a crash at the intersection of Jefferson and Hall avenues.

Pennsylvania State Police said the police cruiser was going through the intersection along Jefferson Avenue with its emergency lights activated when it was hit by the SUV coming from Hall Avenue.

Our crew at the scene saw the police cruiser on its side and the other car crashed into a pole.

The person driving the car was ejected during the crash. They were flown to UPMC Presby and the officer was taken by ambulance. The officer has since been released, Washington Mayor JoJo Burgess said.

Pennsylvania State Police are investigating the crash.

The City of Washington Police Chief Steve Devenney said in a release, “Our thoughts and prayers are with all those involved.”

    The investigation is ongoing.
