1 person hurt after car wedges underneath tractor-trailer in Shaler

A multi-vehicle crash shut down Route 28 in Shaler Friday morning.

PennDOT shows the crash happened between Exit 3 (Millvale) and Exit 4 (Etna) northbound at around 5:50 a.m.

Photos from the Cherry City Volunteer Fire Company show a car wedged underneath a tractor-trailer.

Crews worked to get a trapped person out of the backseat of the car.

The person was taken to a local trauma center, officials said.

wow so sorry! When passing a big rig, stay back in the left lane. Watch the truckers mirror and make sure they see you face to face, after that then proceed to pass the big rig. Now they know you are going to pass them! safety always first with these big rigs! If you didn't do this they don't know you're in the blind spot as they move over into the left lane to pass someone. I learned this move from a Trucker yrs ago at a truck stop. I was a journalist for a motorcycle magazine writing articles. I wrote the story and continue to educate cage drivers as well as motorcycle riders. If you value your life, I suggest you do this or this can happen to you! and I'm not saying this happened to this person, I have no knowledge of this accident. From looking at this picture, reminds me of what a trucker told me to tell you all.. be safe people for all involved in the ⭕ of a tractor trailer and cars passing a rig and surrounding vehicles that get caught up in the accident. Reminder they have a huge blind spot
